Conseil supérieur de l'éducation

Ethical management in public administration is a major concern of the government. The Conseil supérieur de l’éducation established a code of ethics and professional conduct for its members and commissions in 1999, and has revised and updated it over the past few months.

This code sets out the ethical principles that members are expected to follow, "performing their duties in the public interest, in an impartial and objective manner, as befits anyone who is participating in the achievement of the government’s mission. . . . Individual members must carry out their duties to the best of their abilities and knowledge, with diligence and integrity, with respect for the law and in keeping with the principle of respect for the public interest." (Translation)

In addition to these principles, there are rules of professional conduct concerning discretion, relations with the public, neutrality, political activities, conflicts of interest and the behaviour members should observe after they complete their mandate. At the government’s request, the Conseil will publish its code of ethics and professional conduct in full in its next annual management report, which will be posted on the Conseil’s Web site.
